UNITED WAY
OF YUMA COUNTY
Giving local individuals the tools needed to break the cycle of poverty.

We believe that all children, young adults, and families deserve the chance to succeed, regardless of zip code or income.

With partners countywide— school districts and businesses, the public sector and nonprofits, philanthropy and social service—UWYC collaborates on the best ways to support youth success and family stability by identifying what’s working and building on proven practices supported by data and our partners’ expertise.

Aligning partners. Leveraging resources. Transforming lives.

WHAT WE'RE FIGHTING FOR

COVID-19

FIGHTING FOR

THE MOST

VULNERABLE

As the COIVD-19 pandemic continues, we are committed to helping our local community recover and rebuild. Thanks to partners like the Arizona Community Foundation of Yuma and Johnson & Johnson, we are able to find short- and long-term solutions that will make our community stronger than ever! What we've done so far:

  • Provided 5,000 paper bags used to distribute free lunch from Yuma School District #1 Schools

  • Distributed over 35,000 hand sanitizers to every school district within Yuma County and several health and human service agencies (Yuma Deaf and HOH Connections, New Life Pregnancy Center, AZTEC High School, YRMC Foundation, Drive for School Supplies, etc.)

  • Support the hard-working cafeteria staff from Crane School District by supplying 5 pop-up tents that provided shade during their free-lunch distribution

  • Delivered 500 books among the YMCA Emergency Childcare Program, various pediatrician offices, Gary Knox Elementary and Rio Colorado Elementary School to combat Summer Learning Loss.

  • Assist and coordinate the distribution of $856,460 in FEMA/CARE Funds. Funds were used to provide direct rental/mortgage aide, utility assistance, food services and mass shelter needs in Yuma County.
